Lest We Forget (9-11)

I wrote this poem at the 10 year anniversary of 9-11.

Lest We Forget

Catherine L. Haws

Armed with cruel hate

Against America the great

Crashing plane after plane

They all were insane

What did we do? You ask

To deserve that fatal task

We must all know

What ten years ago

Happened in that city

The terrorists we don’t pity

Cast down like a hive

Those thousands of lives

Took the toll of the bell

When those buildings fell

The crash was so loud, it was quiet

There was no time for riot.

Two guys named Pablo and Frank

Many wish they could thank

Over 72

Lives started anew

For their acts of kindness

Frank and Pablo were mindless

Of any selfish thought

Satan would have brought.

Those men were two of many.

I wish I had a penny

For everyone who died

And every tear cried.

I would give it all to

Families who

Lost loved ones that day.

This is not all I could say

Of our horrid world we live in

Corrupt from our sin.

Come to the light

And dwell in his might

Who knew you before your time.

I am a 7-year-old stuck in a twenty-something's body. I enjoy long walks on the beach and peanut butter on waffles. If the following combinations of letters mean anything to you: OYAN, LotR, F.R.O.G., AiO, OBPC, DIY Then we can be friends. And if not, we still can be friends!
